Day three

Today our focus was on Scripture Mastery. We worked on hand and body actions which correspond with the scripture mastery verses, as well as learning the rhymes. Each year the students are asked to memorize 25 specific scriptures - the actions and rhymes help reinforce the memorization process along with the long term memory.
We had our first scripture chase, and thanks to the parent who brought in surprise donuts and juice!
Next week we will be organizing the class into districts and beginning student reading assignments as well as student led devotionals. Next week's scripture mastery will be Moses 1:39. We will pass this off on Friday, and then use the dog-bone box for the first time (sorry - the unveiling was postponed to next Friday as well).

Day 2

Today we made class rules - it was decided that late offenders would have to do wall sits for every minute they come tardy...we'll see how this works out! The rules for me had to do with food and fun - so we'll see what I can come up with. Anyone out there have any allergies? Anything they absolutely hate? I guess that would be good to know beforehand right?

So - for any of you students logging in - here's an additional thought regarding rules that I forgot to bring up today. Auctions. We can set up a couple each year, (maybe 4?) and you earn money by participating in class and being on time, which you can then use for the auction. Any thoughts on that?

For any parents out there, or the Bond girls - today we focused on missing doctrines from the OT, and talked about the JST. We also talked about the Hebrew / Greek translation italicized words, the footnotes and the maps. I handed out a quiz for the students to complete at home. Tomorrow we will be playing jeopardy using the JST, Maps, TG, BD, and footnotes. We will also mark all of our scripture mastery verses and start working on that. I will bring the dog bone box tomorrow for the official unveiling.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and comments! M

First Day

Well - today was the first day of class. Several students showed up before I did - I was pretty surprised - but very pleased.
Hello to all of my students - please feel free to comment on anything we've talked about, post any questions etc.
I will be using this blog to communicate all of the weekly reading assignments and any homework. This way you can check and always know where we are. Additionally, I may assign post makeup assignments through your workbook if you need to do some make up.

I'd love to hear any of your feedback and or ideas and suggestions!
I will be updating the blog weekly - and it will be fun to see where we end up by the end of this class!
Good luck to all and see you in the morning!
M
